Delicious (Spicy) Videos by Biteable. It's not what you think...

Biteable is a new company currently in beta that helps you, the average person, create animated videos with ease. Whether it be for a product, your business, a school, or new venture, their platform promises to make video production a cinch. Below is a sample of our video. We think it is very clever and certainly takes the shopping experience to an interactive level. They created this one for us and chose music and animation, but once they go live, you can customize your own video production.

What do you think?

Upcoming Craft Show: Naturally Bazaar!

We just wanted to share an upcoming craft show we will be attendingon 02/23. The show is called, "Naturally Bazaar" and is held at a well stocked vegan grocer called "Viva La Vegan" in Rancho Cucamonga. While we are not vegan ourselves, our spices are vegan friendly. Moreover, they are great on so many different foods including those of a vegan diet. Add tons of flavor to tofu, legumes, veggies, pasta, rice, veggie burgers, and more! We provide recipe tips for all: omnivores, vegetarians, and vegans. Eating should be tasty for all, don't you think.

Come see us February 23rd, 11-3pm @VivaLaVegan in Rancho Cucamonga.

4 Ingredients: 1 Incredibly Delicious Tapa!

Here is a delicious tapa you can make with a few ingredients. It is called, "pimiento piquillo relleno de txaka," or piquillo peppers stuffed with crab mixture. For this recipe, you would need to plan ahead since these peppers are not readily available in your grocer.

Piquillo peppers waiting to be stuffed!

Finished product - you and your guests will love them!

You will need:

1 jar/can of piquillo peppers. A specialty grocer either Latin or Spanish might carry them. And of course, you can order them online (amazon, etc).

1 package of imitation crab meat

4 hard boiled eggs

Mayonnaise

Finely chop the crab meat into tiny diced pieces. Do the same with the eggs. Combine these in a large mixing bowl and slowly add mayonnaise. Keep adding mayonnaise until the ingredients start to stick together. The texture should be like a thick paste. Then take a piquillo pepper and stuff the mixture in with a spoon until filled. Repeat will all the peppers.

That's it. It is ready to eat or you can refrigerate if serving later. Accompany with some slices of french baguette (us Spanish eat everything with bread...lol) and a glass of wine.

Makes a great appetizer! Enjoy

Sweet Somethings...

Who doesn't love chocolate? Now that a sweet holiday is approaching we thought we'd post a sweet recipe. Of course, chocolate is to be enjoyed any time and any place as far as we're concerned. So this is a pretty easy chocolate cake featuring our European Cocoa powder. Enjoy!

Recipe: Dark Chocolate Bundt Cake
2 cups white sugar
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup unsweetened European Cocoa Powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup boiling water

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease bundt pan. In a large bowl, stir together the sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add the eggs, milk, oil and vanilla, mix for 2 minutes on medium speed of mixer. Stir in the boiling water last. Batter will be thin. Pour evenly into the prepared pans.
Bake 40 minutes minutes in the preheated oven, until the cake tests done with a toothpick. Cool and remove to a wire rack to cool completely. Dust with powdered sugar or frost it! Adapted from All Recipes.com

2013 has come and gone.........

Well, it certainly has been a while. We hope you had a great holiday! It was a bit hectic and we were busy mailing packages all across the U.S. (and Canada :). Our little shop is starting to take off, and we couldn't be more excited. Our customers are lovely and provide wonderful feedback which we absolutely love to hear.

Here are a few updates about us. First, we secured our second retail location - "Isabella Gourmet Foods" - a lovely artisan food boutique in Santa Barbara, CA. They have amazing local artisan foods from jams, to bread, to chocolates. It really is a lovely stop if you are ever in the area.

We also participated in a monthly craft fair called "Naturally Bazaar" at a vegan grocery store called 'Viva La Vegan.' This is a fairly new store with two locations in CA, one in Rancho Cucamonga and another in Santa Monica. They have a large selection of vegan, gluten free, and specialty food items that are often hard to find. We met many customers with varied diets: vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores! Let's face it, spices add flavor to all types of food and really change up those boring everyday meals, whether you are a plant eater or meat eater.

In December, we were honored to be chosen as an artisan for Whole Foods Sherman Oaks West's very first "Eat, Drink & Be Gifty" craft show. This was a partnership between Whole Foods and Etsy featuring only Etsy shop owners. We set up a booth on their patio where they offered hot cider and snacks and met many nice Whole Foods shoppers. Twenty percent of our sales were donated to "Feed Four More," a program set up to provide local low income families with meals during the holidays (and throughout the year).

We hope to continue to grow this coming year. Great things are possible. Wishing you all a prosperous and peaceful 2014!

We're in Retail!

We are so proud to announce that we secured our first retail location, The Corner Butcher Shop in La Verne. They will be featuring our Smoky Spanish BBQ Rub which blends nora chililes, spanish paprika, and more into an irresistable rub for ribs, tri tip, wings, and grilled shrimp. They were very impressed and will be using it directly as a marinade on their top quality meats. Also, the tins will be featured on their shelves. This is an exciting step for us and we hope it's only the beginning!

*Here is a little bit of press about the Corner Butcher Shop in La Verne along with our mention.
